The Nanosfun member delivered an invited talk on sustainable smart window coatings at the Jornada Interclúster “Cap a la Construcció Sostenible: Reptes i Oportunitats”, jointly organised by the Clúster de l’Energia Eficient de Catalunya (CEEC) and the Clúster de Materials Avançats de Catalunya (MAV), showcasing the technologies developed by Nanosfun and Futurechromes as applied solutions for building energy efficiency.
On July 1, 2026, our Senior Researcher Dr. Claudio Roscini participated as an invited speaker at the Jornada Interclúster: Cap a la Construcció Sostenible: Reptes i Oportunitats, held at the BLOC4BCN venue at Can Batlló, Barcelona. The event was co-organised by the Clúster de l’Energia Eficient de Catalunya (CEEC) and the Clúster de Materials Avançats de Catalunya (MAV) within the framework of the Building Legacy project, an initiative funded by the Agrupacions Empresarials Innovadores (AEI) 2025 call (Mintur) aimed at enabling the reuse of construction materials through digitalisation, Industry 4.0 technologies, and new collaborative models.
The event gathered companies, clusters, and ecosystem agents around the dual agenda of sustainable construction: energy efficiency and decarbonisation on one side, and advanced materials and circularity on the other. The programme featured presentations on topics ranging from tertiary building decarbonisation and urban mining to the DRASTIC Horizon Europe project and innovations in concrete and recycled aggregates.
Dr. Roscini presented within the Block 2 — Advanced Materials and Circularity session, under the title “Sustainable Smart Window Coatings: Converting Building Energy-Deficient Elements into Energy-Saving Devices”. The talk showcased the thermoresponsive and photochromic smart window technologies developed jointly by the Nanosfun group and our Spin-Off Futurechromes S.L. as practical solutions for improving the energy performance of the built environment. These coatings, which dynamically modulate solar light transmittance in response to temperature or light stimuli, can be applied to existing windows as a low-cost, scalable retrofit, directly contributing to building energy savings and reduced cooling demands.
The event also provided a valuable networking forum, connecting the Nanosfun–Futurechromes technology with companies and institutions active in the construction and advanced materials sectors in Catalonia, reinforcing the group’s commitment to translating fundamental materials science into concrete industrial and societal solutions.
