The Nansofun members have attended to the 5th edition of the International Congress on Chromogenic and Emissive Materials celebrated in Portugal.
From July 3rd – 7th, the 5th edition of the International Caparica Congress on Chromogenic and Emissive Materials has been celebrated in Caparica, Portugal.
In this edition, the topics of the congress have been focused on:
- Fluorescence and Absorption Spectroscopy
- Microscopy Applications: From Optical to Electronical
- Chromogenic Compounds for Analysis
- Solar Cells
Our Senior Researcher Dr. Claudio Roscini, was invited as a keynote speaker. Dr. Roscini presented his talk entitled: “Nanodroplets-based materials for the fine tuning of the photochromic response in solid transparent polymeric films“, where he showed the design of photomodulable materials based on phase change materials (PCM). Among other things, Dr. Roscini illustrated the audience with the modulation of thermally induced fluorescence through four different mechanisms. Besides, Dr. Roscini showed the design and fabrication of OFF/ON sensors based on cellulose papers with NIR-induced fluorescence modulation. This methodology allows establishing a system with high and straightforward tunability.
On the other hand, our PhD students Jaume Otaegui and Junda Zhang participated in the congress through interesting posters and shotgun presentations entitled: “Multi-Stimuli Responsive Fluorescent Materials based on Phase Change Materials (PCMs)” and “Coordination Polymer Nanoparticles for Upconverting Transparent Films and Anticounterfeiting Patterns“, respectively.

Finally, Jaume Otaegui was awarded with the prize for the Best Shot-gun Presentation for Young Scientists:
